The problem

Traditionally, the best way to deliver blower-driven air to a bottling or canning line has been airknives. The following aspects can however sometimes influence the traditional airknives:

  • Guide rails can interrupt the curtain of air and consequently influence the efficiency in a negative way
  • A slight change in the angle of attack, for example when cleaning the airknife, can reduce the airknife’s efficiency
  • It can be difficult to cut guide rails

The solution

In order to overcome these problems, the Jetplates have been developed.

How do Jetplates work?

A Jetplate is a rectangular plenum chamber with slot patterns allowing air to remove liquid from the product. In fact, the multiple slots act as miniature airknives. With Jetplates, only a straight section of guide rail needs to be removed, resulting in the Jetplates acting as a guide rail.

The Jetplates slots are angled downwards in order to gradually push the water from the bottle. On the other hand, for airknives it is the end user who needs to find the optimum angle. The easy adjustment of the line is the main advantage of the Jetplates.

The geometrical slots ensure that the water is blown downwards towards the base of the bottle. The Jetplates also allow a greater degree of control over the spray direction and cross contamination with other applications.
