High-pressure Systems
Almeco offers solutions for:
- Adiabatic cooling
- Dust and odor suppression
- Air humidification
- Adiabatic boosters (a capacity increase for dry coolers)
These installations use high pressure misting techniques and are used in a wide range of industries: agriculture, textiles, steel, print shops, …
Adiabatic boosters
Where normal dry coolers fail (for example due to high temperatures during the summer months), adiabatic boosters can supply additional cooling.
What is adiabatic cooling?
The cooling is obtained by evaporating small drops of water in the air. This cooling is called adiabatic because no additional heat is required for the evaporation of the water. Only the energy (heat) in the air is used. This causes a decrease in the temperature of the ambient air.
Why use adiabatic boosters?
The misting and evaporation of water cause the temperature of the ingoing air to drop 1 to 10°C (depending on the efficiency of the adiabatic cooling). The advantage compared to dry coolers is the ability to lower the temperature below the ambient temperature (with the wet bulb temperature as a limit). Dry coolers cannot cool below the ambient temperature. The adiabatic cooling supplies extra cooling which avoids the installation of additional dry cooler batteries.
More about adiabatic boosters
- Adiabatic boosters consist of a fan/misting system and a central pump unit
- Misting is produced through high pressure pumps (70 bar) and adjustable nozzles
- No recirculation water (the misted water disappears in the evaporation)
- Water quality: clean, softened water
- Fans: IP 55 or higher
- Control depends on the customer’s wishes
